We took the train from Rome to Venice. I can't express the magic of walking out of the train station and seeing the canal with a Greek looking church behind it. I don't usually have that "pinch me, I can't believe I'm here " feeling, but I certainly did that day. Venice was a perfect end to our trip. We bought waterbus passes and either took the waterbus or walked everywhere. VEnice is made of of two main islands with two large canals. each island is crisscrossed with small little canals. It is also very tightly packed with tiny streets no wider than two people and bridges over the canals. It is beautiful and romantic, but very touristy and filled with people from all over the world.
Our Airbnb was right on the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge. We had sun and pouring rain, good food and amazing sights.
